Importance of Maintenance
Whether extending the useful life of the structure, minimizing catastrophic failures or increasing safety to the public and line crews, implementing or maintaining an existing inspection program is a critical part of the Operations and Maintenance best practices.
The effectiveness of any pole inspection program is dependent upon the experience and knowledge of the individuals performing the inspection. When deciding what type of inspection should be performed, several factors should be taken into consideration such as regional climate, pole species, initial treatment adequacy, frequency of remedial treatment applications and the number of years the pole has been in service, just to name a few. Proper maintenance and inspection practices can mitigate these impacts and also save utilities money through lower total cost of ownership, extending pole lifetimes, and minimizing potential legal liability.

What we offer
- Survey of test that indicate decay, as well as measuring defects
- Visual Inspection
- Strength calculations that indicate a “pass” or “fail”, detecting the precise strengths and weaknesses of the pole.
- Metal inspection tag
- GIS coordinates.
APT’s utility pole inspection program is tracked by its Geographic Information System (GIS) which is shared with you.
Accurate data collection is a crucial part of any Pole Inspection and Maintenance program. APT uses the most up to date data collection devices and software to quickly and accurately record pole identification, GPS location, and joint-use data in the field. All information is delivered to the client in the format that best suits their needs. GIS tagging, metal service tags with date of inspection.
